Attorney Longa

Longa Law is managed by Attorney Lesly Carmen Longa.  Attorney Longa is chair of the Florida Bar Consumer Protection Law Committee.  For over ten years, Attorney Longa has litigated and defended claims on behalf of individuals against corporations, insurance companies and lenders. Today, she focuses her practice on consumer protection, foreclosure defense, and family estate planning.  Attorney Longa is dedicated to helping her clients find the best solutions to their legal problems.

Attorney Longa earned a Doctor of Law (J.D.) degree from Boston University School of Law, and she has earned admission into all of the state courts of Florida, Maryland, and the District of Columbia.  Lesly speaks Spanish and has represented foreign nationals in U.S. courts.

Lesly grew up in Tampa, Florida, and was born in New Orleans, Louisiana.  After graduating from The American University School of International Service, Lesly began providing legal services in 1999 when she served Fortune 500 companies and international law firms as an Intellectual Property Paralegal.  During law school, she clerked with a boutique real estate firm in Boston and a firm of Barristers in London. While at the highly ranked Boston University School of Law, Lesly received a scholarship upon admission, was awarded the top grade in legal research and writing, drafted legislation for a state representative, and earned a position on the scholarly journal of her choice where she served as an editor.

After graduating from law school and passing the Maryland Bar exam, Attorney Longa gained valuable experience as a trial attorney with two civil litigation firms in Washington, D.C., arguing cases against multinational corporations.  She sat for and passed the Florida Bar Exam on her first try prior to relocating to Tampa and opening the Longa Law Firm in 2008.

As chair of the Florida Bar Consumer Protection Law Committee, Attorney Longa is involved in developing outreach programs to educate Floridians on their legal rights, updating consumer pamphlets available on the Florida Bar’s website, and educating attorneys on consumer issues. She frequently delivers presentations on consumer protection law.  Attorney Longa also volunteers throughout the Tampa Bay area through a variety of organizations, including the Domestic Violence Assistance Clinic for Bay Area Legal Services at the Hillsborough County Courthouse, and she has appeared on FOX 13’s “Ask a Lawyer” television program.  In 2014, Attorney Longa received an award of recognition for her pro bono service from the Supreme Court of Florida.  Away from the office, Lesly enjoys flamenco dancing and spending time with her family.
